In Colossians and Ephesians Paul references to God the Creator with many different terms. Some examples of the terms were authorities, spiritual forces, deities, and powers. These terms are important because they display the multi-faceted design of God and of his powers. When Paul references the Lord throughout these books it is to show that he is relevant in all situations in life. A modern day example of a being with multiple names and dimensions is the African American race. As a people group there are multiple names and stereotypes that accompany it. Some of these names include, black, colored, African American, Negro, ghetto, hoodlums, gang bangers, and ratchet and that only scratches the surface of the variety of names that have been used. In Colossians chapter 1 verse 28 it says, “He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ” (Holy Bible, pg. 1076). This is a perfect example of Paul trying to explain that everyone deserves an equal chance in receiving the Lord’s mercy, especially in our situation those of a darker skin pigment. Even in the book of Ephesians it references several different situations of all ages and genders being able to become alive in Christ and be forgiven of their transgressions. In the book of Ephesians it explains this idea of equal grace better by saying, “For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people. I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers” (Holy Bible, pg. 1066). This verse is important because it shows that everyone no matter their race, skin color, background, gender or age can accept the Lord’s powerful love and all they have to do is believe and have
