The complaint of receiving trophies is addressed in “Should Everyone Get a Trophy?” by Lauren Tarshis. She argues that being a recipient of trophies can boost one’s self-image but can also be an inspiration to continue on in sports. Tarshis goes onto describe how receiving a trophy can reassure that you don’t have to be good to play a sport, therefore supports the idea to continue on. However, in her essay she states how some people don’t think getting a trophy for just playing or being there is such a positive approach.
