Darwin or God? There had been much dispute in the small town of Dover, Pennsylvania about whether or not Darwin’s evolution theory or creationism should be taught in the school. A man named Alan Bonsell had lived in the town for many years and brought up the issue that creationism should be taught alongside evolution. When this issue roused it brought up much conflict amongst the religious members of the community who explained over and over again that “creationism fills the gaps that science cannot explain.” This issue about what should be taught in high school science grew so large that it was brought to a national level and was put on trial. With this theory we get the evolutionary tree that is used to describe the relationships between organisms, both living and extinct. With this tree you can see that different species have evolved, like whales, they have hind limbs for walking supporting yet they don’t walk, but evolution says they once may have roamed the land and if the creationism theory was true they would not have those hind limbs. Although it may be one of the only theories of why there are gaps in evolution, you can’t just say “God did it” and Behe states it perfectly, “the structures of organisms are so complex that if you take away even one protein from a structure it cannot function.” Therefore something like this cannot be spontaneously made. Religion cannot be a part of science because the figures of each religion are theories, no one really knows if these people lived. You hear stories and stories about them, but you cannot base a theory on theory in the sense that God filled the gaps in evolution. If God was going to prolong all of the species, why would just fill in the gaps instead of just creating everything at once? Well he couldn’t have because if he did the first human would have been advanced enough over hundreds of years to know how to read and write, leaving something
