I think that extrajudicial measures and extrajudicial sanctions do allow young offenders to escape some accountability for their crimes. These alternative measures do not punish the young offenders when they should be punished at least a little in order to understand the seriousness of their actions. However, I do believe that diverting the accused youth away from the justice system is smart as long as they do not take advantage of it. When they take advantage of it they begin to think that they can not be held accountable or responsible for anything just because they are younger then the average offender.
