In the movie Seabiscuit many people got second chances. Red the Jockey had the most inspiring second chance to overcome his personal limitations and tragedies as well as economic hard times throughout his entire life. His hot temper and reactions cost him and yet he gets a second chance. There are times when i had a second chance like red had. Reds family is forced into the state of depression with a need for funds. Reds parents allow him to work as a horse riding jockey. Later he was sold by his parents at a young age. Red went on to participate in more exterme racing events. Although the separation for both Red and his family was emotionally hard. Red rides in hard races, where the racers engage in whipping. In Reds first major race he gets so much into fighting with another jockey that at the finish another horse pulls together at the last moment and won. After the race Reds boss in the locker room is very upset at Red because his hot temper cost him to lose the race. Although Red failed his boss, he doesn’t give up on Red, he keeps helping Red to succeed in racing. His boss gives Red a second chance.…show more content…
Charles encourages Red when he fails. Tom instructs Red how to run future races, he tells Red to hold back Seabiscuit for most of the race, then turn loose at the end to win. Unfortunately during the next race Red loses his temper with another jockey who was trying to push him into the side rail. With Red distracted he loses focus and forgets Toms instructions. This result being very familiar from the past. Seabiscuit losing a race that could have easily been won if Red didn't get so angry. Once again Red gets a second
