The CSA set forth guidelines to for controlled substances and divided them into 5 groups based on their level of abuse. An drug example from Schedule 1 is cocaine. In Schedule number 2 morphine. Schedule number 3 steroids. Schedule number 4 chloral hydrate. Schedule number 5 Low- strength codeine. The basis of these drugs are to ensure that every patient that is prescribed any of these medications will not end up addicted to them or cause them any more illnesses. Two benefits of the CSA are that it makes it easier to find a drug for a certain patient to take and also it helps to have less addiction cases.
