The drama essay I choose to write about is “Soap Opera” by David Ives. The use of comedy in the story is very entertaining and enjoyable to read. The theme for me that makes the humor appealing is the obsession with the washing machine that is very different from any other play or story lines I have read. The comparison aspect of perfection is emphasize with comparison of an emotionless washing machine unlike humans who feed off emotion and reaction of others.
The quote that stood out to me to be very humors is when the Repairman is ask by the washing machine to feed it. The reply from the Repairman is “You eat the socks? Socks are sustenance. Underwear is tastier” (Ives 674). There is something about washing machine in general that I find
