Upon opening a book, the sixteenth and seventeen-century reader’s initial interface was with an architectural title page. I will argue in this paper that the architectural title page structured a complex spatial arrangement that connected the exterior of the book to its interior meaning through the theoretical concept of movement into and through its architectural space.
