Rikki Tikki Tavi is a story about survival. There is fighting but the good side wins. It shows survival of Rikki Tikki Tavi and Teddy's family. The survival is because there is snakes in the garden that try to kill them. Examples can be found in Rikki's actions during his many conflicts within the story. Rikki's actions during key points in the story show the reader that conflict that is necessary to survive. Rudyard first introduces the idea of survival in the scene where Rikki fights Karait to save Teddy. This scene shows survival when Teddy gets saved by Rikki and when Rikki kills Karait.
