In this essay I will be talking about Putin the Current President of Russia who I can clearly see as a Machiavellian. There are so many traits, values, attitudes and strategies Putin has which are very similar to Niccolo Machiavelli. Putin is the current president of Russia and he has been in power since 1999. He served in the Russian submarine fleet in the 1930s and earlier he served in the World War 2 in destruction battalion of the NKVD.
Putin is a figure that maintains effective political and military power, fully under his control. He also is famous for displaying his strong masculinity in the public, is a sixth degree in judo and is promoting the active Russian lifestyle. Comparing this to Machiavelli in one of his quotes he states that “Everyone sees what you appear to be, few experience what you really are.” Machiavelli makes it recognized to show your focuses your qualities while showing disliked…show more content… I can see that the way Putin is leading by having the second strongest military in the world, holding the largest amount of nuclear weapons and he himself has also served as a soldier earlier indeed he has a strong military power. In the book The Prince Machiavelli advices that a leader should have the capabilities to conquer land through its military and Putin has done it in Arctic where in August 2007 a Russian campaign named Arktika 2007, drove by Artur Chilingarov, planted a Russian flag on the seabed underneath the North Pole. What this implies as far as Machiavelli's recommendation is that Putin is expanded Russia's impact through the vicinity of its military in far off territories. Also the quote by Machiavelli “`It is better to be feared than loved, if you cannot be both” relates to Putin as his people love him and also there is savior punishment for anyone who breaks the laws so people also fear doing something
