As a caseworker, there is a responsibility to bring certain values, principles, knowledge, and skill to the casework to make sure that contentions are managed and the clients are empowered and can regain some sense of social functioning. The advocate seeks to ensure that people, particularly those who are most vulnerable in society, are able to have their voice heard on issues that are important to them, defend and guard their rights. Have their views and wishes genuinely considered when decisions are being made about their lives. These roles help the caseworker to speak on the behalf of the clients to ensure that their rights and needs to get married like people who are not mentally disabled. When dispute resolution is required so as to accomplish certain goals, the skilled caseworker can perform the role of mediator. Within the mediator role, the caseworker intervenes in disputes between parties to assist them realize compromises, reconciliation and reach mutually reasonable agreements. The mediator takes a neutral stance among the concerned
