In the reading for Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys by Dan Kindlon & Michael Thompson (1999), fathers are analyzed by their roles in their son’s lives. Many boys have troubles with their dad that correlate with their behavior in school and at home. Most issues I read about had some aspect that seemed to relate to my relationship with my father. I found that the most significant idea I read was how boys tend to want to raise their children better than their own fathers, yet have the same problems with their own children as they had with their father.
