The poem, Résumé, if read the first time has a very morbid feel. It simplistically talks about seven ways of committing suicide and contradicting in a short manner why those options aren’t in the best favor. While the bluntness adds into the morbid feel of the poem, it also adds a humorous touch. The poet, Dorothy Parker, adds such a blunt and maybe even a sarcastic touch to the last line of the poem, “you might as well live”. She neglects to take into consideration the options of committing suicide. Generally when seriously discussing topics of death, it isn’t weak ended and un-elaborative. Most go in depth on why someone would commit suicide, the collateral damage of family or friends, and even questioning the afterlife. Ignoring deeper thought
