The NSA is supposed to protect our nation, but do they do there job right? They prevent our nation from cyber attacks and enable Network Warfare operations to defeat terrorists and their organizations at home and abroad (nsa.gov). Instead they target US citizens that try to gain more privacy online. Although the NSA tries to prevent targeting US citizens it still happens. Xkeyscore is the program that the NSA uses that targets many americans. It is debated whether or not Xkeyscore helps our country, or just targets random civilians like a witch hunt. The primary program the NSA uses to target people is called Xkeyscore. Xkeyscore targets Americans and other people all over the world. The program collects info like search history that a person does, and deems if the person is a threat or not. If the person is deemed a threat Xkeyscore collects their Ip address, and sends the data over to the NSA. Thanks to Edward Snowden, we know the NSA program XKeyscore is devoted to collecting “nearly everything a user does on the Internet.” But now XKeyscore rules have been leaked, “top secret NSA source code” rules that decide who gets targeted for indefinite surveillance(Storm). If you browse websites with Tor then people will not be able to tell what location you are at due to your Ip address being modified. The big difference between Tor and Tails is that Xkeyscore only marks you as a target if you are outside of the five eyes for Tor. This means that if you are in the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or the United KIngdom they Xkeyscore won't mark you as a target for using or looking up Tor Browser. Xkeyscore does not count you as a threat if you are inside the five eyes because those countries have a partnership with the NSA and its surveillance
