War is more than a game that we played when we were kids; it’s, as stated by Eisenhower, reduced down to pure stupidity. We kill not only people we have no affiliation with, but also possibly people that are very near and dear to our hearts, such as friends and family members. Many people think that there has to be a better way to solve the problems that the world is having; we should be able to make peace and live together without the notion of fighting and killing for what we want. On the other end of the spectrum, there are people who think the only way to settle these disputes and differences…show more content… It would in fact help increase the number of people we have serving our country, but as stated earlier, quantity isn’t always better than quality. Another reason that reinstating the draft wouldn’t be constructive is the fact that it could possibly raise more problems than it could bring justice to the problems we have. Religion, morals, and unfairness are all huge factors that keep the draft from being successful. Religion is a huge deal to some, so they wouldn’t simply defy what has been preached to them their entire lives. Also morals raise the question for some people as to what is right and wrong, which could hinder their motive to fight for their country and unfairness is also part of why the draft would be unsuccessful. With women not being a part of the draft many men feel this is very unfair to them. Finally, work ethic is a huge reason why the draft would prove into ineffective. People being drafted don’t want to leave home and the lives they’ve worked for behind them so they tend to have less drive behind their work. Unmotivated people are much more likely to slow down the progress being made rather than to help it along. We should let the people who actually have a drive and passion for the military join.
