Christopher Columbus was a sailor who had aim of sailing west from Europe to find a quicker route to Asia. Although many people had intended on doing this for a while Columbus wanted to act on it. Columbus had a rather large obstacle in his way, he didn't have the finances to make his journey possible. He first started by asking John Henry II for help but had no luck, so he turned to Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand who eventually agreed to help. In August 1492 Christopher Columbus set out with his three ships: the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria. Later in October Columbus found land, though not the land that he was hoping to find.
