Every parent, family member, and teacher should have a role in recognizing and preventing self-harming. Self-harming is a direct injury done to the body tissues; such as cutting, burning, scratching. People who self-harm themselves do not do it with the purpose of suicide; it is a way to cope with emotional pain, stress, and frustration for some people. People who self-harm prefer to feel the mental pain in their bodies than feeling the physical pain inside them. “Other times, I look at my scars and see something else: a girl who was trying to cope with something horrible that she should never have had to live through at all. Although there are still some signs that can show if someone have injuries due to self-harming. For example, if they always wear clothes that is not suitable for the weather; such as long sleeves in a hot or sunny weather, or wearing pants all the time. And avoiding changing clothes or have any body part shown in front of somebody. All this due to the scars they are trying to hide. And if it ever happens that someone noticed a scar on their skin, they pretend like it’s an accidental injury. Other things that might be symptoms of self-harming will be if someone always prefer to sit by themselves and do not like sitting with people and communicating with them. People who isolate themselves from their surroundings usually tend to do the practice of self-harming. Sometimes you may notice that someone is losing or gaining weight in a noticeable way that is not normal. It is so strange for someone to lose so much weight in a brief period. Nor it is also normal for them to gain weight in a short time. So, this is another symptom of self-harming. Because eating disorders are usually caused by self-harming. In most children, teenagers, or adults if you noticed that they self-blame, it could be an obvious symptom and warning that they self-harm themselves. People who blame themselves are never satisfied with what they do. They do not think that they are good enough and that they are valuable. They tend to look for perfection. Or they compare themselves to others. Which makes them feel that they are less valuable than them. Which leads them to blame oneself thinking that they cannot do better in their
