I was really surprised to learn that prohibition was mostly a cause of lobbying efforts from religious groups.It was really interesting that almost everything they banked on happening once prohibition came under effect didn't. I learned why politics should stick to just being politics, and should not be influenced solely by religion. My biggest question is why have we not learned from prohibition? Cannabis is one of the illegal drugs today in the Untied States, although it is being legalized slowly by some states it is not happening everywhere. The ban on marijuana almost directly mirrors the ban on alcohol yet it illegality is not being overturned? In the past we made alcohol an illegal substance, and as a country we overturned prohibition.
