The poem that I wrote is called the Red Maple Leaf. The story behind this poem is this young man that is pulled away from his family and sent to war. His love for his country is the only reason he is motivated to fight. The speaker in this poem is the soldier as he talking in first person about the experiences at the battlefield. The speaker mood throughout this poem is regret as it shows in much part that he doesn’t want to be here for example “It’s not worth it I think of looking for a new path”. The speaker is trying to say is that’s not really worth all the pain and to be separated from his loved ones and that he is willing to look on for a better path or even a new start.
