The Pledge of Allegiance Having God in the Pledge of Allegiance is violating our First Amendment when schools require students to take the pledge, when you are to remove non-religious headwear to take the pledge, and when to take the pledge may be to deny your own religion for your nation. The Pledge of Allegiance has been said for over 100 years, including my some of my days in school. When I was younger, I was taught the pledge and recited it nearly every day. At this time I only said the pledge for you were asked to stand and recite it. Now that I know what this pledge stands for behind the meaningless words I said back then, I believe it was wrong to ever be asked to say this pledge inside a government building. I was taking an oath for my country, yes, but also for a god that I have my own beliefs on. This is no different from brainwashing, especially at such a young age. The Pledge of Allegiance is the vow recited for the United States of America to vow your allegiance to the nation. This pledge has had plenty of attention over the reversion in 1954 by President Eisenhower. The new reversion added the words “under God”. There was once a case (citation), that a man sued a school for his 9 year old daughter who had to recite the pledge. This case was brought into the Supreme Court showing that this is no laughing matter and needs to be solved. This would not be the only case brought to the court over this issue. The problem with all of these cases is that not a single case has ever one since the creation of the new Pledge of Allegiance.
