The world is an unique place. It provides elements and discoveries that can help benefit people or harm them. Some can have both positive and negative effects, and this is when difficulty can come in. People have to weigh the pros and cons, and sometimes they do so in an incorrect way, often focused on one side and are blind to the other. Tools that people use in their everyday lives can impair them more than benefit them, but they do not know because others before them had weighed that pros and cons list wrongfully. This is exactly what has happened with birth control. People have become blind to the negative effects, therefore putting their lives at risk without even knowing it. They deem it necessary because of its effectiveness. These are the people who have weighed the pros and cons incorrectly. Some are worried about the violation of privacy. “Would we allow the police to search the sacred precincts of marital bedrooms for telltale signs of the use of contraceptives? The very idea is repulsive…” (Douglas 1). Privacy should not be a necessity of people’s lives are at risk. While some people believe privacy overrules all, that is simply not the case. Others are blind to the fact that health simply overrides effectiveness. “The White House’s claim about correlation and causation also ignores one very basic thing about birth control: it works!” (Belluz 1). While the White House is not necessarily right in suggesting that birth control leads to risky sex, they are absolutely correct in trying to take birth control away. Julia Belluz, an author of an article attacking the Trump administration’s take on birth control, also stated that for many people, the side effects never show. People may be able to get away without any side effects, but that statement is completely disgraceful.
