Personal Narrative: The Finger Kid

The Finger Kid One story perfectly sums up my personality. I think of myself as a scatterbrained guy. Sometimes I forget to screw my head on every morning. However, going hand in hand with my absent-mindedness walks ignorance. Having no clue of customs or practices foreign to me, this all came to a head one Sunday morning. But, in order to give the story proper credit, I must tell of the background, the incident itself, and the aftermath. To start off our story, we must explain that I take piano lessons. My teacher just so happened to lead worship at her church. Because I played the guitar, she invited my brother, Nathan and I to play at her church one Sunday. It just so happened that at her Lutheran church they took communion on that Sunday. Not knowing any better, my brother, father, my grandfather and I went up last after debating as to whether or not we should partake of the ordinance. I failed to notice anything going on in front of me; hence, I failed to see the details of how others took communion.…show more content…
As my turn to partake of the bread and wine approached, I turned my head to the pastor. Instead of a little cup, like our church, the pastor held a chalice of wine. So, not knowing what else to do, I dipped in my finger, picked up the cracker, and walked away licking off the wine. For those of you who do not understand the gravity of what I just did, I did not dip the cracker in the wine and eat the wet cracker, the faux pas to end all faux pas. Afterwards, as I walked away, I noticed the pastor staring at me with an incredulous expression. At the time, I did not understand what I had done
