Witnessing the creation and evolution of a dance, by none other than Paul Taylor himself, was definitely an eye opening experience. Following Taylor as he trains his dancers for one of his new pieces and as they tour India shows an inside scoop of what makes a dance company a dance company. Seeing the stress that is put not only on the dancers but on the choreographer as well makes you appreciate the blood, sweat and tears that went into their performance. Paul Taylor knows how to command a troupe of dancers to put on a captivating performance.

Through the documentary you can see his process of creating a dance, trying poses and transitions bit by bit with his dancers until they lock down the perfect sequence of moves. The dancers, both knowing and admirable about Taylor’s methods, are always eager to lend a hand, or foot. No matter what genre he aims for, all of his dances exude the same refined techniques. As much of a perfectionist as Paul is, he has an extreme eye for detail and technique. He can work and rework a show until the dancers achieve the exact angle, height, force, and movement that Paul is looking for.
