PDVT stands for proximal deep vein thrombosis, meaning it affects the popliteal and thigh veins.13 Deep vein thrombosis can occur due to immobilization after patients have undergone surgery or in anyone who may have a sedentary lifestyle. PDVT is the more serious form of DVT for it can cause a life threatening pulmonary embolism.13 Diagnosis of the PDVT varies from what setting the patient is being seen. In an outpatient clinical setting the Wells Clinical prediction Rule is the screening assessment of choice.13 However, the gold standard test for DVT is venography but it’s an invasive test and carries some risk , making its not the test of choice.13 If a patient is said to have low probability of PVDT based on Wells CDR then they are diagnosed
