Julian Castro when talking about the American Dream said, “In the end, the American Dream is not a sprint, or even a marathon but a relay. Our families don’t always cross the finish line in the span of one generation. But each generation passes onto the next the fruit of their labor.” The definition of the American Dream is the ideal that every US citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative. However it is very difficult to achieve the American Dream with just hard work. Education and Discrimination create impasses in achieving the American Dream with the biggest obstacle being Money and resources. The American Dream is difficult to achieve without access to quality education. Those who have parents with money tend to have better wealth management and children tend to go on to do more says a piece by Michael Dobie Newsday Magazine. “They’re also more likely to have college-educated parents, which translate to more financial knowledge and wealth to be passed down.” If parents aren’t college educated and don’t have adequate wealth management it is harder for the children to be successful and achieve the American Dream. “Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders have offered plans the would make college more affordable for more minorities.” Which would help disadvantaged minorities get a degree for a more affordable price.
