"I never imagined that I would be homeless." This statement has been made over time and time again, the fact that people end up homeless is shocking,. There are millions of homeless in America today. Many of these people had no other option but to become homeless. How many times have you drove down the road and turned a blind eye to a homeless person? Roughly twenty two thousand people are suffering from homelessness in America. The Great Depression had a devastating affect on the amount of unhoused American citizens. Ever since then it has been an uphill battle. A study in two thousand and two showed that children and families were the most affected. Rapid Re-housing is a program implemented by George W. Bush. The Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program will provide financial assistance and services to prevent individuals and families from becoming homeless and help those who are experiencing homelessness to be quickly re-housed and stabilized. (George Bush’s plan makes the most sense and has been proven to be the most effective. The Recovery Act investment of one and a half billion in Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing did many things. It was a hopeful policy statement with big dollars supporting it that demanded focus on the cessation of homelessness and more rapid re-housing. It also gave communities the required financial support during the economic downturn to cease the ever growing rate of family homelessness.
