The Collapsed Tanker A Burlington Northern tanker collapsed on the night of April 4, 2007. The question is, how? The crew members were assigned to clean the tanker using steam. Once finished, they went home and the tanker collapsed later in the evening. My hypothesis is that the pressure was different on the inside of the tanker than on the outside. The physical properties of liquids and gases and the Kinetic Theory both support my hypothesis, and I know this because of page 70 of our textbook. The physical properties of liquids are that it has definite shape; it has little energy, and has a medium pressure.
