I am writing my disease diary on osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is a skeletal joint disease that affects the cartilage in your joints. The bones rub bone on bone, which causes the bone to chip and ends up floating around in the inflamed area. The bone chips ends up causing pain, swelling, and restraint movement. Out of all the Americans, about 27 million of them have osteoarthritis. This is the most common form of arthritis. Osteoarthritis can affect any joint, but mostly affects the hands, knees, hips and signs. Lastly, you would want to get checked out as soon as possible of the first sign, because it worsens. All around, there can be multiple symptoms to tell if you have osteoarthritis. If you do a lot of movement, then try to move the joint and you start getting pain, that's a good indication that you have it. The joint could be really tender, no full range, and loss of flexibility. Also, if you took a look at the joint, there could be a bony enlargement which would be another good sign.…show more content…
For instance, if your joints are very stiff and if it's in your knee, you'll have less mobility. If you are about 50’s and older it is common for you to get the disease. While you walk, there can be a crunch sound, which indicated that your bones are rubbing together with no cartilage in between. Also, if the doctor looks back on your medical history and see's any type of problem that could indicate your problem. The doctors can also do X-Rays, but they can't see your cartilage. There is a blood test they can do if you choose to do that. The blood test can help find the cause in the lab results with the blood. Lastly, they could do a joint fluid analysis.
