To examine oral communication strategies, speaking and listening skills should be examined separately as each includes strategies of a different nature. Therefore, the researcher is to use an oral/aural communication strategies inventory ) designed by Nakatani (2006) to assess the strategies Iranian EFL learners will employ for coping with speaking and listening problems related to their strategic behavior during communication. These strategies will be investigated with regard to two cognitive factor: a. Anxiety. The low, moderate and high anxiety levels will be distinguished through Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale designed by Horwitz, Horwitz and Cope (1986). b. Self-efficacy beliefs. Needless to say, research questions number one and two are descriptive in nature, as a result, no hypotheses are formulated for them.
