In the journal “Community policing: is field training the missing link?”, author Allison Chappell goes into great detail about how field training is the most important aspect to effective community policing. Except, is what we have already enough? I personally feel that there probably will never be enough training to fully prepare a new recruit for real world policing. My argument is that the training an officer goes through, is all done in a controlled environment. While it is largely beneficial, anything beyond a college education, and basic training is sort of a waste of time, money, and resources.
