Diversity, what does it mean? As I go into my eleventh year at Jackson State University, I will observe the campus from a different perspective. Today, I will view the campus from a different set of lenses. To distinguish exactly what diversity would look like if it had a face. The day began by observing every person and situation encountered. Initially, the face began with either a male or female. They were black, brown, white or beige. The face was round, narrow, plump, or chubby. These were the obvious distinctions of diversity. However, in higher education, there is a variety of people, food, dorms, activities, and events. The purpose of this paper is to conduct a participant observation of diversity at Jackson State University.
