Unlike most child actors nowadays, Noah Wiseman brings a high quality of acting to his character that combines maturity and innocence which sells the horror aspect of the film without seeming forced. Young Wiseman’s acting paired with Essie Davis’ character depth gives the duo an on screen chemistry that rivals any real life family. The tension between the two is laced familiar love that is expertly crafted in body language, particularly in the sleep scenes. Kent uses a rapid time lapse effect to show the restlessness throughout the night and their effects particularly on Amelia. As her spirit dulls, so does her wardrobe. She is always dressed in some sort of pink clothing which stands out nicely from the monochromatic blue set. While it can
