In the short story “Gryphon,” by Charles Baxter, Miss Ferenczi is a somewhat misleading and ineffective teacher, creating a negative effect for the students. One way Miss Ferenczi is a misleading teacher is because of her failing to correct a student. When a student incorrectly answered what “six times eleven” was and everyone disagreed, Miss Ferenczi said sixty-eight at some times and treat it as a “substitute fact”. Although in some sense she may be correct as there are different terminologies for measuring, the young students will not understand and could always believe six times eleven is sixty-eight. She is also an infective teacher by wasting class time telling stories and bringing Tarot cards to predict the students’ futures. Overall
