In this reading, the narrator talks about the life of two sisters their names are Mira and Bharati who left India and come to the United States in search of new opportunities, better economic benefits, and to complete their career in this country. When they come to the United States Mira and Bharati had planned to go back to home in about two years, when both finish their career. As Bharati explain they should go back and marry the man that their father had chosen for her and Mira. But then the author shows how the two sisters change their plans (Mira doesn’t want to change completely to the American culture even when she still living in Detroit; she still thinking to go back to India when she retires, but Bharati wants to adapt to a new way
