Michael Jordan was a remarkable basketball player, Olympic athlete, actor, businessman, and role model. He was considered one of the best basketball players to have ever lived and completely dominated the court in the mid 1980s to the late 1990s. He led his team, the Chicago Bulls, to six National Basketball Association championships and was voted NBA’s most valuable player award 5 different times. He’s considered a legend and has a spot in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, where only the best of the best are honored that greatly. Early Years Michael was born in Brooklyn, Ney York in 1963, but grew up in Wilmington, North Carolina, where he developed a competitive edge at an early age. He couldn’t stand to lose and would strive to win at everything he attempted in life. As his father James noted, “What he does have is a competition problem. He was born with that ... the person he tries to outdo most of the time is himself.” When Michael was denied the spot on his high school varsity basketball team he thrived to be better and took the time to play on the junior varsity team to become a better player.
