In the Malcolm X readings (News Accounts of the Assassination of Malcolm X), several news media organizations publish inconsistent information. The first inconsistent information found is, the New York Times received information from witnesses stating that 30 shots had been fired and stated police said seven bullets struck Malcolm X. Amsterdam News stated Malcom x was shot four times. The Second Inconsistent information found, Newsweek Magazine, identifying the shooter as 22 year-old Talmadge Hayer of Paterson, N.J., while several other news accounts stated the shooter was 22 year-old Thomas Hagan.
