What is Madame Tussauds? Madame Tussauds is one of the many major tourist attractions in London. It displays very life-like waxworks of influential and powerful people in history, the famous and the beautiful as well as popular movie characters. It was first opened over 200 years ago and has remained the most popular places of interest when visiting London. How it all started. A very brief history on how it all started. Born in 1761 in Strasbourg, Madame Tussauds is born Marie Grosholtz. In 1780, she became an art tutor to King Louis XVI’s sister and lived at the Royal Court in Versailles.
