Copper Sun, by Sharon Draper, is fueled by emotion. It is the story of Amari, a young woman from Africa who is torn from her home and forced to be a slave, then escapes to find freedom again. Within Amari's journey through pain and sadness, there are two emotions that she exhibits that stand out. The two emotions that Amari exhibits the most are bravery and loneliness.
