Acting out of a sense of duty can be implied as going above and beyond what your job description entails. An individual who is not obligated to do something but does it anyways because they feel that it is morally right to act out of their sense of duty, by completing a good deed. As Kant describes, “Duty is whatever reason tells us is the right thing to do” (Mackinnon, 2015). Sometimes a person feels morally responsible and obligated to perform an action even though it is not required of them (Mackinnon, 2015). As a lifeguard we are obligated to save lives of others whether they are drowning, choking, or in need of any other aide. A lifeguard’s duty is to help those in need by providing them with assistance and help to the best of their ability
