Pi Report: Christianity is one of the largest religions in the world with one third of world’s population being its believers. It is also one of the religions Piscine Molitor Patel, or Pi, from Life of Pi practices. Christianity, along with two other religions, Muslim and Hinduism, plays a significant role in the course of the novel by influencing Pi’s views and values. These values and attitudes towards life become crucial elements for Pi’s survival at sea later in the novel. The growth of Pi’s faith throughout the novel can be divided into three sections: believing in His Story, performing daily practices, and feeling the presence of God regardless of the environment around him. Story of Jesus Christ is one of the most important tenets of Christianity. Christians believe that God sent his one and only son, Jesus, to earth in order to save humanity from its own sins. This perfect God, all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-good God, consists of three persons according to doctrine of The Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The God in Christianity is the creator of heaven and Earth, as well as humans, since God made humans according to the divine image. The God loves his creations, especially humans, and wishes to save all people. As a believer, it is important to follow God’s words and commandments, for God expects righteous behaviours from his people and judges wrongdoers. The critical part of Christian faith is having a personal relationship with God.
