Some years after the Peloponnesian Wars, King Philip II of Macedon ruled over the Greek states. Subsequently, King Philip II had many victories and succeeded in unifying the Greek city-states. Philip began to conquer many nations and sought revenge against Persia for the burning of the city of Athens years previously. Philip allowed his son Alexander to fight along with him at the age of eighteen, commanding a smaller unit. Alexander became the head of an army section and successfully aided in the battle, leading them closer to victory. The cause of death of King Philip is controversial.
