Everyone had at least sacrificed something to their loved ones. They would sacrifice almost everything in order to save their loved ones. In the book Joy Luck Club, the author, Amy Tan, expressed the main character how they would hate each other so much but inside them, they actually cared about their people who they love. An-Mei experienced true value of pain. She sacrificed herself to make a soup for her mother to drink soup that has An-Mei’s skin. Even though her mother hated An-Mei because she disgraced the family by leaving the house to be a concubine, An-Mei would still sacrifice her to her mother. Furthermore, Rose also experienced another different true value of pain where she had to sacrifice her marriage with Ted because Ted cheated on Rose. Many of us would sacrifice anything to help our family or loved ones to show how much we care about them, even though they have hatred in them for their family members.…show more content…
An-Mei experienced a dreadful pain, but she didn’t care that about pain, An-Mei wanted to cure her mother’s illness. When she heard that her mother was really sick, An-Mei had to visit her mother to do a ritual. It was a really old ritual that An-Mei’s family believes in. An-Mei’s pain is not as valuable as her mother dying. Her family always hated her because she would leave her own family to live as a concubine, which is a disgrace to their family. Once she found out that her mother was dying from an illness, she hurried back to her hometown so she can to the ritual to her mother. It is hard to decide when people really want to sacrifice something valuable for someone special such as their family members.
