A few of the many characteristics of human nature found in the story Rappaccini's Daughter are insanity, isolation, greed, corruption, good vs. evil, and jealousy and here is why I think think that. The Merriam-webster defines insanity as a severe mental illness, the condition of being insane, or something that is very foolish or unreasonable. An example of insanity in the story Rappaccini’s Daughter is Rappaccini using his daughter Beatrice as i should call it a test dummy. Rappaccini had no rightful reason for doing so to his daughter and poisoning her for life and then to create an “antidote” and give to her that killed her and this is why I would believe insanity to be a characteristic of human nature found in Rappaccini’s Daughter.…show more content…
When Rappaccini poisoned his daughter she had to be put in isolation were she would live the rest of her life. Then when the love of her life went to be with her he was poisoned also and had to live in isolation with her. That is why I also believe that isolation is a characteristic of human nature found in Rappaccini’s Daughter. The Merriam-webster defines greed as a selfish desire to have more of something. In Rappaccini’s Daughter Rappaccini is greedy he is greedy for knowledge and because he was so greedy he competed against Baglioni for knowledge and used his his daughter Beatrice to experiment on.
