In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain created characters Jim and Huck. Throughout their journey, Jim and Huck’s relationship can be seen as a father-son relationship. Likewise, in the anime show Doraemon, created by Fujiko Fujio, characters Doraemon and Nobi’s relationship is very much like a father-son relationship as well. Even though the two pairs might seem very different, their relationships are actually very similar to each other. Firstly, the two pair’s personalities are different but similar. In Huckleberry Finn, Jim is witty and logical. He always thinks of the best, easiest ways to go about things on his and Huck’s journey. Similarly, Doraemon is very smart and logical as well. He always has the perfect solution for any problem Nobi is facing. Huck is young, and somewhat opposed to society and civilization. Throughout the story, we can see how much Jim cares for Huck and thinks of him as a son. For example, during the violent dispute with the Shepherdsons and the Grangerfords, Jim finds Huck alive. He grabs Huck and hugs him, so happy to see him. This reflects on the fatherly relationship Jim has with Huck. In the same way, we can see Doraemon as a fatherly figure to Nobi. In the show, Doraemon was sent from the future to help Nobi make the right choices, as in the future, Nobi lives a terrible life. Doraemon grows very fond of Nobi throughout the show and likely regards him as his son. An example of his love for Nobi includes the time where Nobi’s friend Sneech tries to make Doraemon leave Nobi’s side with Yummy Buns, which Doraemon has an obsessive love for. Doraemon tells Nobi that there is no way he would trade Nobi for a “plate of awesome yumminess.” This shows how much Doraemon loves and cares for Nobi, much like how Jim loves and cares for
