The Canadian government takes the production of magazine as its identity. It prevent foreign magazines dominating its own. In 1920, the Canadian government imposed high tariffs for international magazines so as to avoid other publishers competing with its magazines.In 1965, Canada prohibited the importation of split-run version of foreign published magazines into the country.I do not believe the U.S.-Canadian magazine dispute was motivated by genuine desires to protect Canadian culture.Culture is the beliefs, values, behavior, language, symbols, customs which are the ways of life of a particular society or people which could be passed from one generation to the other by communication or imitation. It is glaring the Canadian government wants its people to embrace its culture, but people can not be forced to practice a culture by buying magazines. I do not think i need to buy a magazine from my city before i know its culture. In Most cases you don’t need to read magazines before you know your own culture especially if you were born and brought up there.I think the Canadian magazines does not have an impact on the development of Canadian
