The Thirty Years’ War was seen as a major turning point in European history religiously, socially, and economically. First off, this war marked the end of major religious wars in Europe. Throughout the 16th and 17th centuries countless wars had been fought over whether different religions should be allowed to be practiced and what religion was correct in their teachings. By the end of the Thirty Years’ War Protestantism became an accepted religion to be practiced in Europe along with Lutheranism and Catholicism. Secondly, the Thirty Years’ War lead to the destruction of Germany, once a major international power.
