A hero is like a puzzle. Each puzzle piece represents a different characteristic. A hero is made up of many character traits just like a puzzle is made up of different pieces. Heroes possess numerous different characteristics that make them a hero.
First, heroes are people that serve and act on the behalf of others. One sample of heroes acting and serving on the behalves of others comes from the short story “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell. In this short story the antagonist Zaroff believes it is okay to kill humans for sport. “Hunting, Great Guns, General Zaroff, what you speak of is murder” (Connell 20-21). Kile states “King committed his life improving the lives of all races and to creating true unity through racial [restoration of friendly relations]”(Kile). King, Jr. knew that something was wrong with all of the racial tension, from segregated everything to blacks and whites not having the same basic rights. One of these basic rights being voting. King Jr. knowing right from wrong caused to forever change the course of history. Because of King, Jr.’s determination and knowledge, now blacks and whites can happily live together in peace, and everyone, no matter what color of their skin is equal. Second is the teen from Pakistan. “A fourteen-year-old Pakistani student who won international acclaim for speaking out for girls barred from school by the Taliban was critically wounded Tuesday by a gunman who boarded her school bus, asked for her by name, aimed his pistol at her head and fired, officials said’’ (Leiby & Leiby). The fourteen-year-old girl knew right from wrong making her a hero. Yousafzai knew that the girls of Islamabad, Pakistan being denied the right to go to school just because of their gender was deplorable; so Yousafazi decided to make a difference.
