Henry “Box” Brown, who was inborn into slavery, was born in Louisa County, Virginia on an undocumented date. (Henry "Box" Brown biography) Although most slaves get split up in there early life, or even before, Brown lived with his family of 9 (including his parents,) until his teenage years. He lived on a plantation called Hermitage, where his childhood slavery life was only half bad. At Hermitage he was not beaten like most slaves were and he never went hungry. Though, this did not last. John Barret, their master, had then become sick. His mother had warned him not to be to hopeful that things will be okay forever. She says, “My son, as yonder leaves are stripped off the trees of the forest, so are the children of slaves swept away from them
