Hemopo…What?
By: Taylor Aubin
Blood, lymphatic tissue, bone marrow and the spleen all come together to make up the hemopoietic system (also known as hematopoietic system). More than half of the volume of blood comes from its plasma and the rest is made up of blood cells. Plasma is mostly water and only about 10% solutes. Some of those solutes are proteins, glucose, amino acids, and lipids. These proteins are manufactured by the liver, including globulins, albumins, and clotting factors but not including immunoglobulins which is manufactured by plasma cells. The immunoglobulins fight off infectious organisms, while albumins control the route of water and solutes in the capillaries. The main clotting factors in blood plasma are the fibrinogen.…show more content… These are: erythrocytes, leukocytes, and thrombocytes. Erythrocytes are the smallest of these three. They are biconcave disks without a nucleus. Their responsibilities include the transportation of oxygen and CO2 back and forth from the body’s organs using the hemoglobin to attach to. When someone has a hemoglobin level less than 12g per 100mL of blood they are considered anemic. A hematocrit test finds the percentage of red blood cells in a person’s blood. Hemocytoblasts are particular cells in the myeloid tissue of red bone marrow than form the
