The book The Fourteenth Goldfish by Jennifer L. Holm is about an eleven year old girl named Ellie who is in 7th grade trying to keep up with being in middle school, having divorced parents, and losing a best friend. Brianna, her best friend, suddenly has a passion for volleyball. Brianna now sits with her volleyball team, hangs out with her volleyball team, and suddenly is busy everyday after school. Ellie was excited after school to finally have her babysitter, Nicole, over to watch her. Ellie's mom didn't get home until late that night. When she finally did, there was a teenage boy following her, and on top of that, Nicole had bad news. “I got a job at the make-up store in the mall!” Ellie's mom finally explained who the teenage boy was-her grandpa! Ellie's grandpa, a scientist, found a way to become young again. Ellie's grandpa was a typical teenage boy, he drove everybody crazy, he ate all the food, and had zits. Yet, he wasn't ready to tell the world about his discovery so things had to be kept secret.…show more content…
Melvinus. The only problem was that it was at the lab where he worked. Ellie's grandpa was desperate to get back into his lab to find his potion, T. Melvinus. So, Ellie finds a kid at school named Raj, to help her grandpa get back into his lab. Raj, Ellie, and her grandpa, spend lots of time at Ellie's house, brainstorming ideas of ways to get into the lab. Raj came up with an idea of him being the pizza man. Raj went to the lab, rang the doorbell, and disappeared inside. Ellie and her grandpa waited inside the car for Raj.
